"New Start" Rehabilitative Training Programme

New Horizons Partnership was provided with funding from CAWT and approval from the HSE West to set up and run the "New Start" rehabilitative training programme to meet the training needs of young people with learning disabilities in the Inishowen region.

This RT programme is a person-centred training programme designed to empower adults who have a learning disability to maximise their potential by undertaking a range of training, vocational and inclusive community activities.

The "New Start" programme has been designed to provide an alternative to traditional day care options through integrating students into the local community. That's why a training base at Buncrana's Tullyarvan Mill was selected. This beautifully renovated 19th century Corn Mill is home to a number of community and arts groups, a conference centre, a restaurant and hostel.

Staffed by a dedicated team of two trainers, the programme provides work and life skills training to eleven students.
